HEALTHCARE FOR ACTION PAC ENDORSES SHAWN HARRIS FOR GA-14
Rome, GA – Today, Healthcare for Action endorsed Retired Brigadier General Shawn Harris for United States Congress out of GA-14 ahead of the runoff election on April 7th.
“Being from a rural district, I have seen first hand emergencies go from bad to worse because of the lack of access to quality care,” said Shawn Harris, candidate for GA-14. “When there’s a medical emergency in our district, people need to be taken all the way to Atlanta or Chattanooga, both well over an hour away by car from the heart of GA-14. We need to employ more specialists in our district so patients don’t have to lose work or risk emergencies just to see a doctor.”
“Shawn has a track record of strong leadership and is a fierce advocate for affordable care and prescriptions,” said Dr. Anahita Dua, founder and chair of Healthcare for Action. “Being married to a family physician, Shawn knows the importance of expanding access to care, especially in rural districts such as his, to ensure patients and families are able to receive quality care.”
Healthcare for Action is a national organization that seeks to elect healthcare professionals and those focused on healthcare policy to the US Congress. The Board of Directors is composed of healthcare professionals from across the country. The PAC was founded in 2022 by Dr. Anahita Dua, a vascular surgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Healthcare for Action merged with Doctors in Politics in 2023.
Shawn Harris is a Retired Brigadier General. His wife of 35 years, Karla, became a family doctor while he served in the military. He’s now a cattle farmer in northwest Georgia running to become the next Congressperson from GA-14.
